DIY Lace Shorts

Last week I completed a summer fashion class (more about that in the next post), and one of my creations was a pair of denim shorts trimmed with lace. I was inspired to do this a couple of months ago by this video, but I didn't get around to it until last week.

So, for this project, you will need an old pair of denim shorts (or pants), lace, scissors, and a sewing machine.

I used an old pair of jean shorts that were too long and poufy.

To start out, cut your denim shorts/pants to your desired length. To ensure that the legs are even, fold one side onto the other and cut from there. Next, turn you shorts inside out and pin the lace to the bottoms of the legs. Sew around the edges (for this part, I used the thick lace pictured on the right).

Flip your shorts right side out. Take a thinner piece of lace (I used the one pictured on the left), and sew around the edge of a pocket. Repeat with the other pocket.

And there you go- your very own lace shorts! Simple and easy!

*If you don't own a sewing machine and/or don't know how to sew, you also have the option of using fabric glue. The video mentioned above calls for that, but I don't know how well the glue will hold up.
