DIY Makeup Brush Holder (+ How to Clean the Brushes)!

Before I made this project, I kept my makeup brushes piled up in a drawer. Now, they are all in perfect view so I can choose which ones to use. I'm not sure where I first heard about this idea, but I've seen it various places across the web.

For this simple organizer, you will need a clear container (I used a crystal bowl), a bag of filler beads (can be purchased at craft stores), and your brushes!

All you have to do is pour the beads into the bowl, and then stick your brushes in!

The beads keep the brushes standing up straight. And there you go- a (very) simple makeup brush holder!

If you use your makeup brushes regularly, you should also wash them regularly to keep them clean and free of bacteria. I clean mine about once a week. To do this, I bring them into the bathroom and rub soap through the bristles. Then, I ring the brush out and place it on a tissue to dry overnight.

*Have a fantastic week!*

Pinspired!

Lately I have been pinning like crazy! If you don't already, you can follow me here on Pinterest. Today I'm going to share with you some of my recent favorite fashion, makeup, and hair pins.

Fashion

I think this chevron sundress is so adorable! I have been really into chevron lately, so I wish I had this in my closet.

This navy blue-themed outfit is perfect for summer. I love the tote bag, the flip-flops, and the necklace. I will probably assemble an outfit inspired by this pin.

I LOVE this bow pencil skirt from Forever 21. It would be perfect for a night out any time of the year!

This outfit is perfect for a casual summer day. As you probably know from this post, I love chambray shirts. I'm also really lovin' colored shorts this season.

Hair

This bandana + messy bun is the perfect casual updo for summer to keep hair out of your face.

This french-braided side ponytail is another pretty everyday look.

This style is fancier than the other two, but I love the long curls with a bow. I will definitely try this!

Makeup

This is a perfect subtle and shimmery smokey eye that is not over-the-top.

The white shadow over the gold creates a unique look that brightens the eyes.

I think this peach and pink look is very interesting. I'm not sure if I'm bold enough to wear it out, but I will definitley give it a go at home.

As usual, if you wish to repin anything, please click on the picture and repin directly from Pinterest. I hope you enjoyed this pinteresting post! :)

What's in my stage makeup bag?

As spring rolls around and the end of the school year approaches, there are all kinds of performances such as concerts, dance recitals, and drama productions. Today I am going to share with you what I keep in my makeup bag whenever I perform!

First, I store everything in this pink and green polka-dotted bag. It is the perfect size to carry around, yet it holds all of my stuff.

To start off my beauty routine, I wash my face and apply a light BB cream. I dab cover-up underneath my eyes and on any blemishes. Then, I rub on powder in circular motions to set the foundation and remove any extra shine.

Next, I move on to my eyelids. I first coat them with an eyelid primer, and then layer a glittery neutral highlighter that covers the entire lid and then the skin up to the eyebrow. Next I cover my eyelids with a gold shadow and fill in the creases with a dark brown. After I blend, blend, blend!

For my eyelashes, I curl them and then add a couple of coats of black mascara on both my top and bottom lashes.

I apply blush to the apples of my cheeks and blend it in a little. I usually use the pink blush in the bottom right corner of the palette.

Finally, I finish with a bright red lipstick that really pops on stage!

Beauty Haul!

This afternoon I went to CVS to buy some spring and summer makeup. Here is what I purchased:

This peppermint Baby Lips has SPF 20, making it perfect for summer.

The "Falsies Volume Express" by Maybelline mascara is perfect for special occasions.

I've been wanting an eyelid primer for awhile, and today I finally bought one. An eyelid primer is used before eyeshadow is applied to make the shadow last longer.

This light BB cream by Maybelline has a SPF of 30. I will probably wear it on the summer days where I will be outside but won't be swimming.

I actually didn't have any powder before, so I purchased this one today to use as a light cover-up.

And finally, even though it's not beauty related, I stopped by Michael's on the way home and picked up a clear jar to fill, a plain wooden frame, and three Smash pads.

Have a great week!

Mary Kay Products

A couple of weeks ago, I had an independent Mary Kay beauty consultant come to my house and recommend beauty tips and products to me, my mom, and some of our friends. It was a ton of fun! The consultant was very friendly, informative, and helpful. Visit the Mary Kay website to learn more about the company.

I purchased four products and received a free nail polish. So far, I have been pretty impressed with everything!

First, I bought this sunscreen to use in the summer. You can use it anywhere on your body, but I think I'm just going to use it on my face, which gets burned very easily. I usually use spray-on sunscreen for my arms, legs, neck, and back.

Next, I got this nourishine plus lip gloss in "pink luster." It's a great color that stays on for a long time.

I also purchased this concealer in "ivory 2." It is a very light cream to cover up blemishes and works great!

This waterproof brown mascara is easy to apply and stays on all day.

Finally, I got this dark purple nail polish in "plush plum." I can't wait to use it!

A Night Out in the City

Last night I went out to the city with a friend and my parents. We had dinner at a seafood restaurant and attended a phenomenal ballet. It was so much fun!

I wore a (very) sparkly pink top that I purchased from Filene's Basement a while ago. For bottoms I wore black skinny jeans from Kohl's and my tall chestnut brown Uggs.

I did my own french manicure yesterday afternoon.

For makeup, I just wore some light sparkly eyeshadow, a little bit of mascara, and some pink Mary Kay lip gloss.

I love any chance to dress up!
